Hi All,

I've got a race tonight and it looks like the weather could easy change from 3.6mm rain, Wet tyres to 1.5mm rain, Inters tyres half way through the race. My questions are...

1) How should I setup my car if I want to set it up for inters when the driver is saying the perfect setup for Wet tyres.

2) Will this improve / give my car an advance in the second half of the race if it does change to 1.5mm rain and my car settings are setup for inters?

Many thanks
Kevin

Car setup is not impacted by tyre type.
If it’s raining, it’s wet setup, but it will stay wet setup because there is too much water on track.

If you setup for dry, you will be impacted on the first half and it might be too much of a loss for you.

Hope this helps.
Have fun.

Hi Wambou Wambou,

Thank you for your reply,

Is there not a difference between wet setup and inters setup?

I was thinking of setting wing and ride height somewhere in the middle of these two setups to lose out for the first 10 laps on wets  but gain on the remaining 19 laps on inters (If my weather prediction is correct of course) or is that not possible?

Many thanks for your help on this

There is a 'Monsoon' setup, probably at standard +50 now in Elite (never had a race with it since the DP doubling), but it's independent of the chosen tyre but triggered by the type of weather. Also from some point on quite some months ago it's almost never asked and since DarkSky I stopped to see any proper water on the track even in Malaysia (and the snow one ceased to exist completely it seems, but I can remember only one single race ever, in Hungary during quite a snow storm, to have used it anyway).

About using a 'half wrong' setup the whole race, I wouldn't do it myself but haven't tried it in ages, so it's just based on my personal gut feeling.

I follow Frank on the half wrong setup.
If not having the proper setup makes you loose time, you might loose more to NEVER have the proper one for the whole race.

I won’t be able to find the topic but the "Monsoon" setup was just about the weather icon.
If there is a lightning bolt, go for this setup, otherwise use the wet setup (+24/25 in Elite, still not sure...)
