Hi,

In my last race https://igpmanager.com/app/d=result&id=28892628&tab=race it seems there was some sort of issue, I was maxing out at 315kph down the pit lane straight and could see other cars gaining and pulling away from me

I asked other drivers in chat what their top speed was and the answers was 324kph, no DRS is available on the pit lane straight in Azerbaijan

It was suggested in chat that it could be based on acceleration, just to rule that out mine is 130, opponent is 113

My cars was fully repaired with a fresh engine, driver is maxed out level 20 on everything and was 100% fully fit before the race

I qualified 3rd and 4th but ended up finishing way down the field

Has anyone got any suggestions?

From what I had in Australia last season, all informations displayed to the user on the race viewer are aesthetic and can't be trusted for being standard to all. For example, if you use your Boost in a straight it still will show +300km/h, but not over 330 in most cases, for the user, but on the race review page it shows the top speed as 350km/h, which is the maximum speed the game uses. Hope it helped.

Yeah I can get that but my lap times are out as well compared to others, I qualified 3rd and 4th and finished 13th and 16th (although the one that finished 16th ran out of fuel on last lap it didn’t make a real difference on positions finished)

a rival who qualified 5th finished 4th doing the exact same strategy

If there was only 1 magical strategy that everyone followed, then qualifying would almost be the end of race result, but it isn't. Even on the same strategy there are too many variables to make the balance shift from you to your opponents: PLs; Drivers abilities; Drivers setups; Track position; Boost use during the race; DRS achieved to keep up on a train; Clean air; Aiming to get DRS at the last lap for better results; Backmarkers DRS; Clearing slower cars faster; Car development in general; suppliers; Positions gained at the start; Pit blocking (still happens); Pit being hundredths of a second faster; ...
And thousands more little details that require great skills to master. As a mod once said, the best development for Qualifying might not be the best for Race. For example, Spain last sector requires a lot of handling to get DRS every lap that don't necessary makes you faster in Quali where other attributes are more essential.

Hope it helped.

Yes thanks for your reply I am aware of all that but I have never experienced in my 760 races my cars being so slow in comparison to all other cars in a single race before, my car development can’t be too far off as the very next race I managed to win at Monaco

Although you have an Acceleration CD, his weakness is Tyre Economy, so if you haven't allocated DPs there, you might end up being a bit slower in the in-laps for pits. But anyway, a car suited for Azerbaijan isn't the same for Monaco because of the track characteristics of both being way different. With 760 races on your record I'm sure you will turn it around, gl! ??
