So after finishing a season in my league as elite champion again I decided to go for a new challenge currently ranked 15th in UK and join a friend's league which has some very good competitive managers. They currently had 5 races left of the season so I join as my season has just finished.

I then get allocated 35 points in all the big four stats and given 52 design points to spend.

All the other cars are currently at 200 and gives me no chance for staying in elite and having an unnecessary season in Pro League??

Considering I just left league as champion. Just wondering if they DP allocated this late on is still based off the 100 cap?

Looking at my stats going into last race it's really unbalanced and don't think I want to have full slog at pro for no reason when I would walk it.

As far as I know this is intended.

The explanation for late league joiners receiving less Design Points is because they should not interfere with ongoing championship. Unfortunately in most cases that team ends up on relegation zone.

That's why when someone ask an advice about joining a new League, the first thing I say is "you should do it in first race of season".

You can come back to your old league and try to synchronise League changing (during their season break) for a better experience.

I understand about affecting the current ongoing championship, but being stuck in relegation is a bit of harsh punishment for joining at end of my other season. Surely it would be better designed to give the team average points of league in each category or just below average.

There is nothing you can do when it's 35 PTS Vs 200

Wouldn't even make a difference if I had 100 PTS Vs 200

Joining in mid-season will always happen the same thing like this.

What you need to do is, don't put any design pts so you can get higher research power and points (research the car as fast as possible). Wait until the last race to put all design points then high possibility you will have better pace.

The penalty is harsh indeed, but it does makes sense. How would you feel if you promoted, a bit early, from Pro, fruitlessly tried to get over last place during the season and then a high level guy joins a few races from end, doesn't puts in much effort but manages to get above you due to better level and an average joining design and thus makes you relegate, just to leave again after season?

So I think this design works, earlier into the season it's taking some effort, Lai described a good development tactic there, and joining late it's the relegating risk if the league is close to full. To avoid those it's joining during the break. The only problem is the risk then tier being full due to the promotion/relegation system used. So perhaps a change to allow one free slot in tiers, as long as the league is not completely filled, during break might be worth considering.

I know what you are saying, but the active league spot would be full at start of next season and God knows how long I would wait then

If you don't want to get relegate to pro tier, recommend you to leave the league and rejoin it again in next season once it has free slots. I don't think you're able to avoid relegation especially there is just one more race left.
