Qualifying

Dear managers!  I wrote this post 6 days ago on the Hungarian forum:

"I didn't start my iGP 'career' today, I have a couple of races behind me. Level 20, research and development of 4 main features, they are all the way they should be ... They are by far the weakest of the top 4 finishers in our tournament.  the results of the time trials.I only started once from pole position this season, then I became 5. But yesterday it pulled up the best so far.16th place on the starting grid, which slipped to 18th place in the 3rd lap, so that after the race was knocked down  I'll be first !!! This is WHAT? And in 85% of the cases the other 3 managers always start in front of me ... I would understand if I were in the middle ... But please, I am currently leading the championship in spite of all this.  take the place that the others are so weak ... The top 4 managers represent the same level of competition, the winners of the race alternate, the runners are close, last year, for example, 3 laps before the end, there were 4 chances for the championship title and only the last  the championship title was decided in the race !!!
So here's nothing to show why there should be such differences on the timer ... Either it's random or something else that I haven't got an answer to yet ... ? "

So as I mentioned, I wrote this 6 days ago.  There has been no change since then ... The 3 competing teams always finish in front of me on the time trials.  I do not know why!  And I fell back to 3rd place in the league.  It is simply impossible to compete with them if I keep starting around 10th place ...

I watched some Hungarian championships and became aware of an interesting thing. League host (I am too) are also struggling with these problems.  They are weaker on the timers than the other managers ...

My suggestion is that the league host will be disadvantaged by the SYSTEM for some reason ...
Has anyone experienced anything like this?  If so, what would be the solution?

Yes I did experienced! I often starting 18-19 (out of 26), if we use the same tire. (Especially in wet conditions) My car is one of the best on the grid... I'm hosting a league too, and I've been struggling since I'm hosting it.  

I understand your frustation because i have also had some seasons where my direct rivals would get good qualifying spots and i would get garbage qualifyings like p15 and under, which makes winning x100 times harder. But I really don't think that has anything to do with being a host (i am a host right now and my qualifyings are decent, and the former host of my league would get good qualy spots 99% of the time), i don't know what the game would get out of handicapping hosts xD.
The problem most likely is on your car development or research - for example whenever i struggled in qualifying my car was mediocre - compared to my rivals at least. Your rivals probably have a better car or their research suits better the circuits where you are racing. Qualifying can be "random", but better cars or cars that are better suited for a circuit will qualify better than you most of the time.
Going from an average car to a top car through the season can be quite hard, so my advice would be to try and do your best for the rest of your current season, and then for the next season try to change a bit the way you research and use design points. Try to get the best design that can fit the circuit where you're racing; maybe even try playing with CD's. For example try going from a CD that has Downforce strength to one that has Acceleration strength, or Braking, until you find the right setup with which you can feel confident and that allows you to have a good car from the start of the season. You will see how your qualifying times will improve on average when your car is better designed.
But yeah don't let your perception frustrate you, the other hosts that you checked probably don't have the best car neither which is why their Q times aren't good too.

I often compare My car, to the others, and sometimes I'm the best. I have mega starts P18 to P12 in one sector, so I think it isn't the lack of performance. It's wierd because often the "small" teams are on Pole. They hardly ever score points, but they are on Pole. Their cars are pretty bad. I tried different CDs, but they weren't a massive support. The downforce is the best for me. (I'm using Toymotor Beep Bridgerock)

ummmmm..... Toymotor?  Arguably Downforce is the least critical of the big-4. But you have DF as your CD's strength... It's been my experience and therefore my humble opinion If it ain't Acceleration, you're outbound by depreciation.  

I use the Toymotor with Beep, and Bridgerock. They give me 3 out of the big-4. With the downforce I have them all. I have great race pace, only the qualification is painful. The Murk is dominating the qualification, but their pace is pretty bad. That is what I experienced. If I tried to use it it didn't go weel. I hardly ever finished in the Top 5. 

Kevin, then what would be the solution to better qualifications?
I tend to do this: where my lag is greatest (out of the 4 big ones), I research the area and use a leading designer.  So if I’m researching braking, for example, I’m using a lead braking chef designer.  My engine supplier this year is Toymotor.  Last year it was Murk.
Should you use 4 chef designers?  Will the car be stronger or more balanced next season?
Is it worth switching engine suppliers during the season?
Can qualifying be affected by using all 5 attempts or is it enough to go 2-3 laps?
Am I also running the race with the tires used in the qualification, or am I going there with new tires?


Levente may be the Toymotor will be wrong in this. I also use this this season. The problem is that the car is well in competitions. But due to qualifications, I start from a disadvantage and not easy to move 10 places in advance. Many ERSs need to be used, which is very missing in the hair compared to the others, as they get out of it ...

I still stand by my opinion ... The game simply disadvantages the league hosts... 
Race 1: 10th start place (practice 2nd)
Race 2: 11th start place (practice 4th), so that the best car is mine !!!  
The rivals are always starting in front of me.  And so that, for example, last year’s champion used an acceleration-downforce chef designer in the first 2 races just like last year !!!  He have 2 wins after 2 races !!!  Why!!!  ?

As a host (sorry wrong acc ik), I literally researched cooling for 3 races when not able to be on the game... And 10 races later I am qualifying top of the grid for the 2nd race of a row... Car design is almost as in depth as push management, I think even less understand it maybe as it's so hidden, I know I certainly don't!

As host of my league, here are my qualifying results for the current season, we are 21/22 races in currently:

France: 1st and 2nd, outqualifying the super runners on my softs
Austria: 1st and 2nd (Wet)
Britain: 1st and 2nd
Hungary: 1st and 2nd
Belgium: 1st and 2nd
Turkey: 1st and 2nd, outqualifying the super runners on my softs

Italy: 5th and 6th (1st and 2nd of the soft runners)
Russia: 2nd and 3rd (1st and 2nd of the soft runners)
Singapore: 1st and 2nd
Japan: 1st and 2nd, outqualifying the super runners on my softs
US: 1st and 2nd (wet)
Mexico: 1st and 2nd
Brazil: 11th and 13th (3rd and 5th of the soft runners)
Australia: 5th and 6th (wet)

As you can see I have mostly dominated qualifying this season despite being host. Also I have started to slip back the last couple of races as more people in the league max their car development. Hosting does not negatively affect qualifying performance.
