I started in a new league before the 3rd race as it was full before this and a position only became available after the 2nd race. So I got a very poor starting design of just 6 points on everything with 9 design points to spend!! Is this correct because it seems to me that the only opportunity I have is to hope I score some points. How can a player even consider to be competitive with this design, at least not until very late into or towards the end of the season. I can understand penalizing a player who starts late but this I feel is on the harsh side with such a poor starting design. A lot of players will have had 336 points spread out over everything, with a 21 race league, plus 40 points from 2 races. So that's 376 points Vs my 57 points, that's a very heavy penalty to incur for starting 3 days late! ?

This is something that comes up quite often, the current design allocation has been this way since July 2018, before this it was much worse! New Design Balancing system when changing leagues

I feel your pain, in my league I accidentally left after the 4th race (of 20) when leading the championship, I re-joined and my design was reset as per the rules. Last night on race 19 I finally managed to get a driver on the podium again.

I made a suggestion many years ago that a team joining mid season would get the same design as if they were joining in the break (16dp x the number of races in the previous season) This would mean after only a couple of races you wouldn't be too far adrift but as the season progresses you would become less competitive. I think this last bit is important because you wouldn't want an experienced team joining a couple of races before the end of the season with a strong design and potentially interfere with a close title battle between the established managers who had been fighting it out all season.

Really would like to see it changed Kev, so as it's less severe. Especially in cases where a player has only missed the first few races. For me it was only two races yet I am approximately 319 points behind on most of the other players in the league. I think it's way too harsh. I understand that players joining late should not be given the opportunity to be competitive or score many points but for those joining early in the season, within the first couple of races, they should at least be able to compete with the top 10 after maybe 2 races. Here I'm probably looking at 10 races! ? If a player is uncompetitive for 2 or 3 races after joining a little late in the season, where they definitely won't score points, I think this would be enough to put them out of contention of winning the championship or even coming within the top 3. Because they may be uncompetitive for 2 - 3 races but it doesn't mean they will be competing with the top 3 after this. Maybe the top 10 but at least that would make the season somewhat enjoyable where you could actually race instead of waiting on the sidelines for a reasonable car, which may take more than half the season the way dp's are allocated at the moment. Hope it's changed to make it a little easier on early joiners.
