Default fuel

Hate to be that guy again and i figured i would put it here and see what happens, however the default fuel is too much. Have to stress this point from a manager who did setup but forgot to hit save (while busy doing something else before the race) so not an issue with not doing setup at all or not bothering to turn up because he did. This was something in the vicinity of 30L more than what was required meaning he finished 2 laps down, and was a pitstop behind after 11 or so laps. I get the idea of some form of penalty for not bothering to do setup (but he did) or not bothering to turn up (but he did) but this idea of having such a massive deficit in fuel by default is just ridiculous. I myself have done it in the past but also actually hit save for it not have come race time i only noticed when the race started and a few laps in the pace wasn't there, and just watched them go round and round not being able to do anything useful at all even with tire strat. It is simply too much fuel, it is ridiculously too much. Why not by default instead of mediums and soft tires throw on inters or full wets when it's not raining when setup wasn't done (or saved)? It amounts to the same thing where it is just overboard, too much, and everyone would be posting up screaming to say how stupid this is.

Change it. Please. Thanks.

A few of observations:

1. In this particular instance, I don't know if the manager in question had done any practice laps. As far as I know, the game uses practice lap fuel data to calculate the race fuel load (but is still conservative). If no practice laps have been completed the game has no idea how much fuel will be used so uses a default value which will result in extreme over-fuelling.

2. You are competing in 100% race distance which, as far as game assigned default fuel load is concerned, is worse case scenario. Shorter race distances will result in less over-fuelling and, of course, if refuelling is allowed, it is not really a problem at all.

3. If the Devs were to adjust the default fuel load to give you what you ask for (5 litres excess fuel at PL3 for 100%, NRF) for those that run 50% it would be almost no handicap at all (2.5 litres). No setup cars are already a nuisance, having them run around at more or less the same pace as the rest of the field would be awful, especially in offline leagues where the managers who have diligently set up are not able to directly manage their cars to clear the no setups.

So yes, I agree it's frustrating on an individual basis when this happens, but the alternative is potentially worse for everyone.

Agreed.  5 to 10 litres over would be a serious handicap.

Hey, I totally get your frustration — we've all been there at some point, missing a save or getting distracted right before a race. It’s rough, no doubt. But at the end of the day, iGP is a management game, and the responsibility for every detail — fuel, setup, strategy — falls on the manager. That’s what makes good results so rewarding: they come from preparation.
If everything were automated or too forgiving, the challenge (and fun) of managing would disappear. It’s not about punishing players, but about keeping the game true to its nature. Sometimes we learn the hard way, but that’s part of what makes us better at it.

I respect your point of view but I think different.
Hopefully next time everything clicks into place — good luck in the next races!

I agree. Yes it sucks if you forget or the game doesn’t save fuel, but it is a management game and it’s up to managers to work out their own fuel levels.  Reducing the default would just be another dumbing down of the game.

A glitch though for whatever reason when it has supposed to be saved isn't the managers fault though, like if it's done right before lock out you can't change it. My issue with it isn't giving a manager the perfect fuel, the issue is the default fuel amount is waaay too much. EA/CM F1 games do the same for default fuel for some reason and if someone starts the race while you're still doing setup you're stuck with it, or whatever amount you get down to before the timer runs out. If it was something like 5L over yeah fair enough, that's a fair amount for not doing setup, more manageable for someone who got on and it didn't save to at least try something with tire strat, but 30L over is just ridiculous and there's just no need for it to be that much. Like i said if a manager doesn't do setup (or it doesn't save) and the penalty was being put on full wets in the dry or slicks in the wet everyone would be saying something about it.

The problem is the save button. Is there any reason why we still have to manually save everything?

why code a 100% default fuel weight for a 50% race man? too difficult to put 'x 2' or '/2' in an equation. lmao. Also i didn't ask for 5L, it was an example.

Offline manager cars who have setup have won races, unset offline cars with more fuel than the laps x PL5 won't ideally be winning much and if you have a hard time with them as an online setup manager then, well.. ya know. 100% 50 laps at 2.55 is 127.5... why on earth default an amount of 150-170 lmao. ffs. 127.5 at PL5, why not like 135L.

If you don't want non-setup offline managers then kick them out.

So way to miss the point and argue nonsense again especially the halfwit that bangs on about 'dumbing down the game'.. i can tell it's already dumbed down by that pointless response every damn time.

For me doesn't work like this at all ,even If i do practice laps, even If not ,i didn't see a change in fuel level after i do the practice laps(100% Race)

Is this for everyone or is not working how it has to for me?
