I'm just asking for a refresher.  I know you can change tire compounds in prerace if there is water on the track.  But, in the scenario that the track is wet for qualifying but will dry befor the race starts, is there anyway you could switch from a wet tire to a dry tire after qualifying?

Yes, there is a way but it requires you to set a dry tyre for the first stint of the strategy. If you do that the chosen dry tyre becomes available pre-start. So you have to choose if you set a dry strategy but are limited to either Intermediates or Wets set in Advanced Strategy to be used in case of rain in Qualifying or use Intermediates in Strategy and Wets in Advanced to let the game switch according to the water level but won't be able to choose a dry tyre in the starting grid.

So in other words (just making sure I'm understanding what you're saying) you can switch from a dry tire to a rain one, but can't switch from a rain tire to a dry one?

In answer to your question...
Yes you can switch from a rain tyre to a dry one providing you have selected the dry one in your main strategy stint 1.

The tyres available on the grid for a wet race are your main strategy stint 1, Inters and Full Wets. So if you have selected either of the wet type compounds for stint 1 in the main strategy you will not have a dry compound tyre available to you on the grid. If however you selected a dry compound for stint 1 then you can select from both wet type tyres and the dry stint 1 compound... If that makes sense LOL.

As Kevin wrote. Of course with setting up dry tyres for stint one you will have to use Advanced Strategy to run Qualifying and entering the race grid on a rain compound, but if you do you have the dry compound you selected for stint one available to switch to if the track is drying up, as well as both rain compounds if it doesn't.
