6races into the season and I am in 26th position.  I have beaten the car ahead of me in 25th position in 5 out of the 6 races.  We both have a best finish of 19th position. Why am I not ahead of this car in the league standings?
How are league positions determined when cars finish outside the points?  This could obviously affect relegation at the end of the season if it isn’t sorted

For teams on equal points they are first ranked by their best finishing position in the current season.

Where this does not differentiate between teams because they have both had the same best position the tie break is "who did it first".

So if you finish 11th in the first race of the season you will always be the highest ranked team on zero points.

Thanks for the response, I now understand.  It does seem a bit strange though that relegation could be decided on one race and not an accumulation of better performances over the season.

Admittedly, that would be better as a tie-breaker if the same best result was achieved the same number of times.  Otherwise, the tie-breaker for 0 points should first be decided by best result, followed by number of times that result was achieved, then by who achieved that total first.
