Hello everyone!
I tried looking this up, had quite many results some were pretty old and outdated. Still I learned a couple things but I had a few extra questions / precisions / validations.
What I seem to understand:
1) There is no longer a maxed out start of season design stat cap. So only 1 CD is needed nowadays unless you wanna tailor your car to the very first race(s) somehow.
2) Having a 5 stars CD for a whole season gives you your max amount of design points. (same for everyone? see point 6)
3) Leveling up mid season and not changing your CD will mean a lower starting car than you would have gotten without leveling up. ie the next season's design points are cumulated every race according to the CD you have "active" at the end of each race. Thus always keeping a 5 stars CD is a good thing.
4) The talent, age, morale etc of the CD doesn't do anything just yet. Only the strength and weakness of the CD affect the next season's starting car... (and season lenght? see point 5)
What I'm wondering is the following:
5)Do longer season give out more starting design for that league? is there a cap?
ie I have read you get 3 design points per race while you sport a 5 stars CD. So a 15 league race would give you 45. Does a 20 race season gives you 60? Or is the 45 scaled on 20 races instead?
6) Does the level of the manager matters in this?
I'm level 12, let's pretend I stay lv 12 for the whole season and never level up somehow. If I have a lv12 5 stars CD in Accel / Cooling will I have the same design as a lv 20 player having a lv20 CD with Accel / Cooling as well?
6a)What if I level up after from a race are my design points calculated before I level up with a 5 star or as a 4.5 star?

1. Correct
2. Correct but the CD does not need to be 5 star. A 4.5 star CD the same level as the team will perform the same.
3. Correct up to a point. If you change your CD to a higher level coincident with your team levelling up you won't suffer with a lower design. But regarding 5 star see answer to point 2.
4. Correct
5. Yes longer seasons give you a higher starting design. In the Elite tier a CD that has the same level as the team will generate 2dp in a standard area, 3dp in strength and 1 dp in weakness. So for a 15 race season your next season starting design would be 45/30/15 and for a 22 race season 66/44/22. The number of dp generated per race are scaled for the lower tiers.
6. Yes you will have exactly the same starting design as a L20 Manager with a L20 CD.
6a. Hmmm. AFAIK dp are calculated after the race ends so there is a chance that for that one race you will be allocated slightly lower design because at the end of the race when the dp are calculated your CD will be one level lower than your team.

Guess I can keep a 4.5 star CD around for some time then, good to know!
I guess the only downside then is the slightly lower reasearch percentage.
EDIT, oh wait it has to be 4.5 star AND the same level. So a previously 5 star now 4.5 star but lower level wouldn't work?
