Hey guys,
Just wanted to ask about pit lane times. There is a graphic I found on the forums showing the time spent in the pit lanes of each circuit, but through my own analysing of my races I have found my pit lane times differ quite a lot to this. And while looking at this I found something peculiar; in a lot of races my own pit lane times differ quite sharply.
e.g. Mexico Pit 1: 4.2s + Est Pit Lane time-16.8s TOT:21s
Pit 2: 4.1s + EPLT-16.7s TOT:20.8s
Pit 3: 3.7s + EPLT-15.4s TOT:19.1s
Pit 4: 3s + EPLT-13.8s TOT:16.8s
I have taken the in and out laps into account with a moving average and other calculations too numerous to mention), and even if that calculation is a little off it surely can't account for the 4s+ difference in pit lane times between the first and last pit stop here? Any thoughts?
I have heard that on average tyre changes take 3s to complete (give or take a few tenths), is this correct information too?
I have gone back and looked at a lot of races and noticed the pit lane times decrease the further into a race I am. How can this be if there is a pit lane speed limit? Surely the pit lane time would remain static over the course of a race's duration?
Any help and thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
