And then you will be back in elite next season. Will you ask to be demoted again? You will gain more by staying in elite.
 I want to play pro in a friends league and spend sometime building HQ.
Lol, you leave the league where you are in elite, and join a league, which is further along in the season, still to end up in elite. Just saying.

The reason this rule was brought in was to mitigate the design advantage you get by being promoted mid season.
Joining another league at the end of the season to get relegated would work, but you could just join a league with enough members, purposefully get relegated and not have to request it on the forum. However, some league hosts may not appreciate you intentionally doing badly in races.
