Baku Cars stopping at end of straight

What did you try to do?
My car and many others in our league were faced with our cars just stopping at end of Baku straight. One of my cars lost 14 seconds in one lap and 6 positions. The car just completely stopped and let others overtake and then started again, this issue happened to many players in the race

Sorry to hear that, that's got to be the worst bug to encounter. Something unusual is happening at Azerbaijan as it had these issues during the launch also.

Do you have any information about exactly where it happened? You said the first corner but if you had footage (or if anyone else has footage, because I know it's happened to others) that would be really useful.

I'll also run some races there next chance I get to debug it and see if I can catch it.

If Baku is so bugged at the moment why not offer leagues yet to race there the opportunity to swap the track out?

Sorry Jack I don't think anyone has footage but more specifically the cars down the pit straight just stopped completely and the game sort of lagged in a way with the stop start notion. Then the car ended up losing an incredible anmount of positions. The league was confused as it was so random and anyone at any time would just slow down and their car would stop in end of pit straight going into turn 1

Whatever is happening there isn't happening in most races or any tests I've run. The track file itself can likely fix it which means I can probably do a re-export once the cause is known. The challenge is identifying the cause, it's proving quite elusive so far. It'll be something in the structure of the track and how it's interacting with the physics engine.

That's quite a useful description. Did it just stop on the start/finish line? Or a grid slot?

This sounds like some of the issues iRacing had back in the day. Did it look anything like that?

Anyway, this has to be fixed urgently. I'm working on it today.

It’s ok. I’m willing to wait and don’t want Baku deleted from game as I love the track but was just suggesting a way for leagues to get out of racing a bugged track if it is gonna take a while to find that root cause

I did consider it, but was able to quickly find some problems and fix them (twice). Each time the situation looked fixed, then it got live for a few days and someone encounters a new issue. So it's increasingly rare, but not gone, sadly.

It would really help if anyone could capture a video of this, to help me understand what's causing it.

When this did happen there was also a visual glitch where the game just seemed to stop and stall until restarting 2 seconds later. It was nothing related to grid slots just at start line until the first corner was done. Happened a few times and to atleast 1 driver for almost every team

check also the fuel used in the same lap...it should be more than other laps (we had the same bug here and also in Belgium)

Was there a specific lap number where it would happen? Did it happen on pit in or pit out laps by any chance? or always 1 lap after a pit stop etc.

I am thinking there could be a pattern related to the car moving between different sections of track (it can sometimes impact car behaviour).

This is so disappointing. Its happened today to me again. Both my cars at end of start finish line have just stopped. I've lost so many seconds and lost 5 places on lap 1, it then happened to me every time on the lap after I pitted. Like today I was the only one affected by it but by lap 1 my race was over because of the glitch. It was the Malaysian track which doesn't have reported bugs so im just so shocked.

In terms of yesterday Jack it happened in last 10 laps of race randomly. Not after pits or anything but today it did. Very disappointing honestly

A quick progress update: I'm now able to reproduce the issue in a dev environment, so I'm getting closer. I also know roughly what the cause is likely to be, it's only 1 of about 3 things given where it is happening (on the start line).

This will change how cars behave on ALL tracks, so please follow up if you discover any issues. Races from 03:00 UTC will use a new simulator with quite significantly refactored handling of this. It was solvable with a change to the simulator, not the track, so it's a global change.

Same happen in our league with Malasyia, during DRS zone the car would brake test for some reason and because of that we would lose 1-2 positions depending on the situation.

In my case i was playing on PC in 2D, others playing had same problem but i think that whoever played in 3D didnt encounter that problem
