Given that the audience is now primarily Mobile - I think there is a big aspect of the game missing (in comparison to other mobile games). Other mobile games have a strong incentive to play multiple times a day. For example, you log in and check out what's going on during breakfast, check again during lunch, again around dinner time, and again before bed.
I love this game! But have found that there is nothing to do. Training my drivers is quick, so after 5 mins a day (not counting races) there is nothing for me to do. Training, 5 practice laps, and strategy take little to no time. Then ... I don't log back in until race time.
What I would suggest is ... That you have 2 or 3 "practice windows", and a qualifying session.
Off the top of my head ... Practice 1 runs from right after the last race and the window is something like 5 hours. You have those 5 hours to do 3 laps. Then Practice 2 runs for 5 hours and you have an additional 3 laps. Practice 3, 5 hours, 3 more laps. Then, 10 mins before the race, a quick 3 min qualifying session where your main task is trying to send the cars out at the right time to avoid traffic.
This small change would increase the practice laps from 5 to 9 - but I think would really increase player retention. The more folks play, the more invested they feel in the game / league. The more invested they are, the more likely they are to buy tokens. Better experience for users, more money for developers. Win-win?
