Pitting 2 cars @ same time

Looks to me that some teams use the same strategy on both cars and pit them at the same time.  Is there a performance hit/ penalty for "stacking the box"?  Or do the teams have a pit box for each car?

one of my cars got held up when i pitted them together, i think it will depend on the time gap between them
