Wrong About Out of Fuel?

In China, on her pitstop, my driver, Romy Becker, was able to pit with 1.5 L of fuel left in the tank, based on the data. But, on the subsequent pitstop, the data showed 1.8 L of fuel left, yet my driver ended up retiring the race before making it to that pitstop on that lap.

Is this right? Sorry if its obvious, I haven't played in a long time.

Could you post a screenshot instead? We cannot see your race data in detail.

By the looks of it, he didn't pit on that lap and consequently ran out of fuel. Did you attend this race?

Yes, I attended the race. I clicked pit, and the green button said pitting. This was in sector 1. Then by sector 2 the driver ran out of fuel, which is weird because at the same instance with the last pit, the driver managed to pit with less fuel. Unless I'm reading the data wrong.

You crossed the line with 1.8L of fuel in the tank, so you ran out in the middle of the lap. The question remains though as to why the driver didn't pit the lap before in the first place.

Ah, thanks for explaining, the data could be a little more intuitive, though. Other than that, it was my fault.

Well it's not your fault if your driver didn't automatically pit like he should. But if the pit light came on and you unselected it, then yeah it's your fault.

Drivers don't always pit when they should, being watchful helps too.

I had this same thing happen to me.  My drivers did not pit on a subsequent lap and ran out of gas in the pits on the next one.  I did not unselect the pit option as it never came on.

The only thing I could come up with is that on the lap the drivers ran out, I switched from stay back to full push and figured maybe it changed the fuel usage to such a degree that if I had left it, the drivers would have made it.  It was odd because I was under the impression that the drivers were suppose to pit automatically when they felt they could not make the next lap.  I still had a stint left as well.  It was strange IMHO.

I think you answered that one yourself.  If you changed the push level after the point at which the driver would have pitted then, of course, they will run out of fuel.

That happened to me.

Spoken to Andrew about Drivers Pitting when they should. Drivers can easily make the mistake of deciding not to pit against the lack of fuel in the car. At the moment, it seems neglible to only a very unoccasional case.

Just be wary for these kind of things and I'll see what Brainstorming I can harrass Andrew with.

What is with "flashing" pit lights? In my race today on the last lap of the race my pit light flickered on and off two or three times in a matter of seconds by itself, but in the end it stayed off, which is good because I had more than enough fuel.

It just came on for about 0.2 of a second, then off for a second, then flickered on twice for about 0.2 seconds again each, then stayed off.

Could you please tell me which race and which car you noticed this happen with Eton?  There are some situations where the drivers will second guess and change their mind about pitting, but it shouldn't alternate on and off several times as you mention.

Just something considering fuel running out that happened in my league on Saturday at Melbourne. Why are cars that make it into pit lane past the white line not pushed towards their box like they would be allowed to. All that would need doing is for the car to stop, say it's run out of fuel and that the mechanics are running to get the car. So the car takes twice as long to get down or longer but is then allowed to continue. Pit crews are allowed to do this in F1, why not here?

I may be wrong but I think this is something that will be implimented.
Someone with more knowlegde about it will no doubt keep me right.

If the devs are interested i will post my stats but essentially both drivers on the same fuel and same push levels entered the pit lane showing 1 litre left in the tank , one driver fuelled fine the other ran out only a few yards from his box.
I have checked the race stats and they had the same amount of fuel at the start of the lap.
I'm not moaning but i would like to know why it happened.
