Staff all leaving one race early?

I've just had the pentultimate race of my season and all of my staff (except the one driver I had already given a new deal to) have all left the team one race before their deals were due to expire. Those who were on 17-race deals have said they had a good 17 races with me, but when I click on their records it (correctly) says they only spent 16 races at my team. Now I'm having to frantically re-recruit before the season finale. Is there any explanation for this?

Oh, I should also add that the same thing has happened with all of my sponsor deals too.
