My Firefox doesn't display the tabs that way either. In mine there is a 1/4 inch space above the tabs that has only the Firefox button and the window sizing buttons. I still think it may be some Firefox window display preference that is causing this. I take it back It does display that way on full screen mode. I never use that.
I have this sometimes when I start typing but somehow the chat box isnt selected. After typing some characters the view changes similar to this. I then only can get it right again by restarting the 2D.
In this case it seems you choose to let new screens open in a tab. The 2D normaly opens a new more basic screen without the toolbars and things.
I have the same problem in chrome. What is actually happening is that the 2D screen is scrolled down a bit, you see that black line in the bottom? It appears when you try to zoom out. What I do to avoid refreshing the page is make the window not active (for example click on the control panel below) and then hover the mouse over 2D and scroll up. The black line disappears and the top of the window fits in correctly,and the game does not take it as a 'zoom in' command cause the window was not active.
Ive had the same problem that Arthur has since the update was done few weeks ago just haven't bothered complaining as i thought it was probably just mine but now i see its not.
i zoom in & then when i try to zoom out the whole page jumps up cuts a big chunk off, cant see the leader board above P3. so i just zoom back in and it jumps back but have to stay zoomed in whole race.

It is because the applet gets scrolled out of view as Tjerk said. I've tried before and couldn't figure out why it was happening, because it's really inconsistent. It never happens in my Firefox for example, but as Jaap has shown it happens in his, it happens in Chrome for me and not for others. I've looked at the source code and can't see why the browsers are occasionally inserting this extra line of space at the bottom. I've tried a few solutions to force it not to add such space, and unfortunately none have worked.
Any savvy HTML/CSS developers here? I'll gladly gift 250 reward points if someone has a working solution.
Happened twice to me tonight with firefox, pretty sure what triggered it was typing chat when the cursor in the chat box wasn't highlighted as mentioned by Eton and Tjerk above.

@the main post:
negative padding-top?
for me seems that there is some margin/padding at top with negative numbers.
I had this problem too, but didnt found a solution, only adding paddint to top, but it will be added always not only when they are cutted.
I dont have 2D, I dont know if that happens always, or only with 2D. if it is always, for me it is working correctly in IE, Firefox and Chrome, so, my advice is to update the browser, old browsers can misunderstand some html/css rules.
