I've read in one of the "competitive tutorials" that driver's weight has an impact on their performance and that it is beneficial to get their weight to minimum. However, I've also seen comments that driver's weight does not matter. Which one is true?

It did, and will, but is currently inactive (I think?)

Rhys

Why is it inactive then and when can we expect it to be activated again?

It was deactivated (as far as I know) in the switch from browser-only to cross-platform and as for reactivated: Probably not in the near future. I would still train it though.

It's not inactive, at least now driver mistaken was removed we could notice that its effect is very small if you compare with fuel weight.

I've run a test with two drivers that were supposed to do same times (L Thomas against R Hamilton in a friend's account). With a 10kg difference there was only 1 race of 13 that heavier driver (Thomas) came ahead Hamilton in qualifying.

When he came ahead, gap was 0.137s (https://igpmanager.com/app/d=result&id=28774397&tab=qualifying)

When he was behind, gap was usually close:
5 races Thomas came behind only 0.010s or less;
2 races Thomas came behind between 0.020~0.011s;
4 races Thomas came behind between 0.125~0.021s;
1 race Thomas came behind more than that (max gap was 0.279) https://igpmanager.com/app/d=result&id=28774394&tab=qualifying.

After 13th race, I trained weight and qualifying times started to be exactly the same until the end of that season.

As per race pace, I don't see any difference by having a heavier driver in your team.

So, As you correct recommended, I think everyone should train this skill to minimum of each gender.
