Padlock on driver

What did you try to do?
Sell a driver to a friend who is a level 20, same as me but a padlock comes on screen so he can’t buy him

What happened instead?
Nothing

Additional comments:
Tried to sell a driver but he can’t buy him, so I had to buy him back off the free list

Hello,
In a July 2021 update, the developers made the following change, "Free-agent Drivers and Staff can no longer be bought outside of an Auction. The exception to the rule is if a driver or staff member has ever been in your team before, then you may re-sign them. The capability to sign any free agent was being abused via browser scripts that scan all possible URLs, hoarding the best drivers and staff, with the aim of preventing other managers from accessing them. Such antics are no longer possible. We will also be looking in to improvements to the transfers system to offer more ways to access a wider range of drivers and staff."

This could be the reason the drivers you are looking at show as having a lock.

I get that but there is someone on my shortlist who has been released and never been in my team. I can buy him but I sent the link to my friend but he can’t. How does that work?

As I understand it, when the new system was introduced a few months ago an exception was made for Drivers and Staff that had already been shortlisted before the changes were implemented.

I assume the person that you can "buy now" for 3 tokens was shortlisted by you many months back.

You can still transfer the T20 driver to your friend but it now costs 9 tokens. You should arrange a time with your friend, you put the driver up for auction then your friend uses "Buy Now" for 9 tokens before anyone else has the opportunity to see (and bid) on him/her.
