Race Setup

hi I Race in ERL which Starts @21.20

I always do my stratergy with my stints, driver settings and fuel in the mornings and then save ready for when i qualify.

but tonight somthing weird happen i logged on to do qualis and bothe my driver had the setting i saved in the morning.

both had 5 stints filled in with diffrent fuel levels none more then 40lts of fuel, i did my qualies and then pressed the save button twice so it wouldnt light up again.
but when the race started 1 driver had the correct settings and the other driver just had 3 stints with soft tyres and 80ltrs of fuel.

so can any way explain what happened.

even if i messed up on the save after qualies which i didnt i would have stayed with what i set up and what had saved in the morning.

what does seem weird, if it was a issue with the save button, it should affect both drivers.
somehow 1 driver has gone back to default settings after qualy.

i race in a league with Jason and its happened to him a couple of times, but only recently, making me think its something to do with the recent lag issues after the server HDD failure.
i trust he knows how to setup a car :) so believe the issue is site/server related.

would love to know if anyone has had similar issues, or if a dev knows whats up?
its never nice to see a fellow league member getting randomly screwed over by game mechanics.

i wouldnt even say there were the default settings as ive never seen the default setting as 3 stints with 80 ltr fuel.

So now we as managers have to deal with Quali Lotterry were 1 driver qualies 1st and the other 26th and now race set up bugs which just ruins our races before we even start.

It happened to me a few races ago; I set my drivers to do a SS-M-S strategy, and was sure I saved the strategy. When quali results came out, I saw they qualified on softs, and luckily, as I was able to live manage, I just adjusted them to a S-M-SS strategy.

These AJAX-Request the Save-Button does have no error handling what so ever. If you hit save, the site says, it is saved, regardless of the data actually being transfered and received by the server or not! I ran into this issue with my smart phone several times.

Try this:
After saving navigate again to the setup page, preferely with a 2nd browser tab. That way you ask the server for HIS data and you can be sure YOUR data really reached the server.

yes  i know about the save button, i setup 8 hrs before quali with my settings then logged out and settings was how i had them all throught out the day still the same.

when i do qualies the only thing i change is driver settings i dont touch fuel or tyres so if while  doing quilies and it dont save it should go bk to the last saved settings i had before qulies which was 5 stints on softs with i think 40 ltr fuel (100%) race. so how it manged to put 3 stints soft with 80ltr of fuel i will never know and driver 2 was how i set it up as.

Yeah, I've realized that this happens. I did part of my test runs and left my computer (auto sleep mode) and finished it a few hours later. I pressed the save button and it stayed green, so I redid everything then clicked the save button. This time, it went to grey but it stayed on the default M-M-M, instead of the SS-SS-SS-SS that I put in.

I don't know about wrong tyres and fuel being added to cars. It's never came my way yet.
But I do know the setup screen hangs sometimes.
when you do all your runs & click save all button it does nothing. stays green.
you have to open other driver or one of the other tabs in a new tab in your browser to get the save button to work.
Then when you return home after doing what you need to do, you find you still few more run available. you didn't do them all is will say.

I have this problem too, I also have it when I'm actually racing. So during the race I may notice I'm slightly over/underfueled or I want to change my tyres, I will make the adjustments, close the tab and carry on racing, cars pit and the changes I made aren't implemented, costing me the race. It happens rarely but when it does happen it can be hugely detrimental 

so multiple players are being affected by this...

a response from a Developer would be nice.
is this something you are aware of? can a solution be found?

Ehhr, let me get this straight:
The race is running and you try to change your race strat by doing changes on the "next race" page?

That's not going to work. 10 minutes before race start this page is frozen. During the race you may do changes via "Free Data View" or "2D Race View". Both require Java.

I don't know if changes in these Java applets stick, if you close them.

No, as in during the 2D/free data screen, not sure what you read but it's quite clear I'm talking about the changes you can make during the race. 

Ok, I was confused cause your where referring to the Java applet as "tab". Over here it is a window. But that might depend on browser settings.

Again, I am not sure if changes in live race window are supposed to stick, if you close it!
Making changes, closing window, reopen and check changes might be worth a try. Never did it myself.

ok last race of the season which i wanted to win and guess what.

my setting bugged out again same aas before but with 4 stints of med tyres with 65 ltrs of fuel  instead of 35 fuel with soft tyres. so another race lost due to a stupid igp bug which no devs are aswering to again.

ok and AGAIN i have setup issue fueled from the start with ss and 20lts and 1st stop was for 33ltrs of fuel and soft tyres and for herace of the stops were 33 and softs.

and all my tyres were correct and my fuel was @ 61ltrs of fuel for all stops.  that cost me a potentail 1/2 when i needed it hte most for the D/C title and now looks ike ive lost it.

And again the same tips. For us analysing:
- post screener of race setup and analysis
- post race ID

For you for the next time:
- After saving strat visit the page again to make it really made its way to the server.

And again  i have done that ive been playing this game long enough and know about this bug. If i didn't do the save thing properly then all my settings ,tyres and fuel and repair car would be wrong. But no all saved apart from fuel.

And again, he's complaining with no screenies or even just the race id...
