SC/VSC & W2W Collisions

I think adding W2W collisions and SC/VSC options would significantly improve the "Realistic Settings" experience. Here's my idea:

VSC: Can be deployed randomly.

SC: Can be triggered by W2W contacts. To keep the game fair, W2W collisions shouldn't cause DNFs or car damage. Instead, they should result in a few seconds of time loss. This way, we get a realistic simulation feel without the frustration of unfair DNFs from the race.

Even though there is 0% chance cautions are implemented ever again...

I agree that W2W contact shouldn't cause DNFs, but your idea for VSC I don't understand. I don't think it should be random. That would ruin races for a lot of people, especially in the case of NRF leagues.

I want to add the safety car again as a league boost, probably silver tier as that is looking a bit empty.

The code and even a 3D model all exist, it just isn't implemented. Given that I pulled off W2W I think I could probably manage the safety car implementation now. The main hurdle is actually the 3D model and making that behave properly, I don't think I could do that.

I would also love to have collisions as a feature, but that's much more challenging technically, because ideally there would be damage etc. At the moment we have no such systems in the game.

Adding something to the races that can negatively impact your performance simply based on luck doesn't seem the right way to go. People play to enjoy their 20-50 minutes peacefully, doing what they want on the track. If races are now going to be ruined simply by chance... Bad news.

I totally disagree with your suggestion.

Implementing collisions would most likely be too complex without a major overhaul of the game. It would probably also require introducing additional driver skills.
A SC could be implemented, for example, in cases of retirements caused by tyre blowouts at maximum overheating (or due to critical tyre wear, for instance around 90%), or incidents where cars go off track and crash under critical cooling conditions. In most cases, this would mainly affect drivers without active managers, without impacting those who are actively managing the race. At the same time, it would introduce another factor requiring quick reactions from active managers.
Although such situations might occur frequently during a race, I believe this could be balanced and developed further—for example, by allowing only 1–2 retirements to trigger a SС, while the rest are handled as if they occur in a safe zone.

The Safety Car? Like in 2020, it was implemented and then removed shortly afterward because it blocked boost/DRS, meaning you'd find yourself unable to pass your rival on the final lap. I'd avoid adding any more bullshit given all the problems/bugs you've added to this damned game. Out of three championships, I'm down to one active. Ask yourself why..

We had 100% uptime today after a stability update to the sim, hopefully no lag also. I've been going around fixing lots of minor bugs.

I'd like to know what the most important ones are to you, that you have such strong conviction to make those statements. What would help to make you feel the game was stable?

The first thing I find absurd is the 10 boosts that you have to earn each season without choosing one of the 3 modes. I have 59 boosts saved and I can't put them in my team to avoid them being taken away. There are 3 game modes. People complain offline because you can still join the team and manage the race. ADVANCED SETUPS: You set your best setting, go to the race and it sets a different setup. CLASSIC 2019: People complain about losing positions or messed up qualifying. Take a look at my championship's noticeboard. The NETHERLANDS circuit has been run on grass since it came out. Many times the DRS doesn't activate under a second of distance. The final standings of the race just finished don't reflect the finishing order. The W2W where you do more laps with 4/5 cars paired together is truly ridiculous.

OK. I'm going to make looking into the simulator a top priority as it's likely to deliver the best improvement in the overall experience. A few people have said so now, and the management areas are increasingly stable now.

Talking of a change/bug since the W2W update, the default set-ups now pull their stats from what was rookie after all the tiers were merged. So now the set up for every track is just between 1 and 10 on wing level, ride height and suspension. I don't know if this is intentional, but it would certainly add more depth if the set ups were pulled from the old elite range.

Additionally, as brought up in the open letter, the change to the transfer market refresh period is one that goes against the wishes of most managers and is rather an easy fix - though I am aware this is an intentional change rather than a bug.

Also, in terms of driver recovery time being different with age, if you train a driver at 10x right after a race, they need to recover at 4.55% an hour to be able to be at full health again for a race the following day. This means that not only do older drivers atrophy way faster, but they also can't be trained as much so it just worsens the effect. Realistically, the minimum recovery rate should be 4.55% an hour for the oldest drivers so that it is possible for any driver to be trained at 10x and recover in time for a race the next day.

I'm aware that not all of these are bugs, they are simply observations that should be relatively easy fixes and I would love to be as involved as possible in helping iGP.

Yet another “great” and “timely” change. Now let's make changes just five minutes before the stage starts

The reality is, without taking the whole game offline, there would never be a good time. A quiet Easter Sunday is better than mid-week.

It was changed after a batch of races had started, 1hr before the next batch, and most people prepare just before the race. Anyone with ideal setups will be automatically synced.

A few people may be impacted who saved setups many hours before their race, that is true. But given all of the above, the impact should be greatly reduced over doing this at any other time.

Can't you just announce the next update - even a minor one - schedule it for a specific time, and roll it out without once again making many players feel like their efforts have been wasted?

Great to see such a a swift response and implementation - I can see that the set-ups are like that now. Hopefully something will be done about the other feedback and if there is any more help I can give regarding the game then let me know. If you're in need of more support staff give me a shout.
