Valencia

Just noticed my driver has put in a dominant lap in qualifying for Valencia to get pole by half a second which is a shame because he's guaranteed to be in P2 by T1 (officially turn 2) because of a 5 year old glitch. Ever plan on sorting it out?

Wouldnt have anything to do with Pole starting on the left hand side of the grid? Car starting second has the inside for turn 1

You do realise that 2nd starts behind 1st on the grid right?

Or maybe it's based off real life where 2nd position in Valencia always took 1st place by that point. 100% of the time. Without fail.

Or when you detect the sarcasm, maybe it's just a deliberate, exciting feature added to this game which makes pole in Valencia meaningless, 100% of the time. Without fail.

Or maybe when you realise any other of your debunking theories can be chucked in the bin, you can accept that its a bug.

I'll tell you what I see. On circuits like Abu Dhabi and Valencia, you get this random jump coming out the pitlane compared to those out on track already. If you've watched races at those two tracks you'll see the driver coming out the pitlane braking later than everybody else, making up positions if cars are about 0.3/0.4 ahead of him. At Abu Dhabi you just get better driver out the pitlane as its flat out, on track they've still got to take cornering speed.

At the start of a race at Valencia, into T2 (the first real turn. The right kink is officially T1), the car in 2nd and I would guess everybody else behind him outbreaks the guy in first massively. It doesn't look normal, you never see cars on this game making moves like that anywhere else. I have no idea how coding etc. works but its almost as though at the start of Valencia, all cars except the pole sitter are in "pit lane exiting mode" which lets them brake later. P1 doesn't get this, hence why he always gets overtaken.

You are saying random jump in Abu Dhabi but is always happens, for that very reason. It's straight run exiting the pits where as it's a corner for those on the track.

With Valencia it doesnt always happen. If the driver in pole is better than the driver in second, if the driver in 3rd is better than the driver in 4th, if the driver in 5 th is better than the driver in 6th. so on and so on. It doesnt just effect the pole sitter.

Opening lap of all races is full of overtakes, cars with one lap more fuel that started behind get in front and then fall back again. It's a shame didnt have boost from lap one I could take off on my own lol

If you want to get into even more details. each car has a different DRS & Finish line if look closely enough you will see so. Cars get DRS and they have a bigger gap between them than other cars. Many a time my car has had a car with it's front wing in front of my car yet he got DRS not me.

Is anybody with actual authority able to give me an answer on this instead of some self-made moderator whose way of dealing with bugs/glitches is to try and think of every excuse under the sun as to why you're wrong? You're right on one thing, it's not 100% of the time, it's about 90%+, but i'm going back years since I saw a pole sitter keep position into T2 there. It has nothing to do with driver ability, maybe the leagues you race in have a clear fastest team and an overall poor standard of managers for you to never see it. In good, even, competitive leagues, it happens. Later on i'll go and look at stats over the last x seasons to see how often it happens.

Valencia p2 to p1 does happen every time. well in every race i've ever done live anyway.

But what about the rest P4 to P3 & P6 to P5 it's not just P1 & P2 that changes

Does it change P1 SS & P2 S?
I see a result in rookie where P3 SS didnt drop to P4 who was on S. But other places did change. Problem with looking at results is it's not telling you what happened in first few corners. It's just telling by lap.

James, instead of making yourself look like a complete idiot how about look back at post #6, the last paragraph. The pole sitter brakes a massive chunk of track earlier than everybody else. You do not get that happen on any other track at any corner whatsoever. In normal situations an overtake is done very slowly with the two circles on top of each other for a time. I have just looked back at the last 10 races at Valencia on one of my accounts, 100% of the time the pole sitter is 2nd at the end of lap one. I get what you say about that not meaning the position was lost at turn 2, but I would happily wager a lot of money that it was.

Jack when you read this could I recommend you or somebody else perhaps tells James to stop offering his mostly incorrect opinions on the problems people post? I know in my experience the things I have posted on here get shot down by him only to be found I was correct. The old igp engineer/mechanics training (forgot which it was that prevented mechanics screwing up pit stops) that wasn't carried over to the new game but still ran in the background of new IGP despite not being able to train them further springs to mind. Whatever you did to fix that has always worked since. I imagine there are probably other genuine problems reported by players that don't get looked at further after James' shoots down the poster with an excuse the equivalent of "its probably just a coincidence"

The front two are the only ones on SS, the rest are on mediums so clearly a very inactive league. However the switch happens.

Yes, both those things are very known in our league. In Valencia you really have to qualify 2nd to be on the real pole. Plus it's a track where a good position after the start and clean air really can matter.

Every race in Spain 2-4 cars get DRS one lap early so far.

Maybe the guy who qualifies in 2nd is just better than the guy that took pole every single time you race there

The P1/P2 switch already exists as long as I can remember which is since 2012. I have seen multiple races where P1 managed to keep the position at the start but they are in the minority.

Luckily races usually aren't won in the first corner. :)
