Drying or dampening track

I wanted to ask a question about this as there seems to be nothing about it in the game rules or guides unless I've completely overlooked it, and if that's the case I apologise.

I have a wet race coming up and the chances of rain are at 50% throughout the hour, so wanted to know whether, when it rains, dos the track become immediately wet or does it dampen first?
same for drying track vs 100% dry track.

It all depends on the intensity of the rain, and the track as well, but usually a track will become wet quite quickly when being rained on ;)

As for the drying track, there are determining factors that will effect the drying process, like the temperature, and the intensity of the rain prior to it becoming dry. But yes, the track does become increasingly wet and dry, it doesn't go from one extreme to the other.

Your best way of checking how ''wet'' the track is when viewing 2D is to just look how big the spray is from each car and obviously the laptimes if anyone else has chanced different tires.

But look out for the Auto Weather Stratergy in your set up. Once it starts raining you could come in for inters without you knowing

Had my first rain race and it was the first (and last) race of the end of my free 2d viewer, so didn't get to see the spray! 

So basically, setting the driver to pit immediately for both rain & dry changes is the way to go I'm guessing 

Not really. The track takes quite a few laps to dry out. It pays to pit straight away for wets yes, but if you're on slicks and the weather dries out you want to wait atleast a few laps to pit again for slicks. If you can only use live timing just use your lap times to make the judgement call - If you all of a sudden go from 1.21.00's to 1.25.00's then you know the track is too dry for wets.
