Hey guys,
I've been playing iGP for many months now on my main account and had relative success. I've read the beginner guides and advanced tips and scoured probably every forum post from the past year and a half in search for tips etc. I rotate ChiefDes's with good strength and weaknesses, I have a 5* TechDir both at my teams level. I believe I designate DesPs in an effective way (more on that later) and allocate my Research sensibly and efficiently. I use Push Level during races sensibly and vigourously. I have 20 Talent drivers all maxed out.
Here's the rub... I have enjoyed good success and promoted to Elite for many many seasons now and won championships. But the last few seasons another manager has come out of nowhere. They were winning possibly three races max per season until a few seasons ago and since then (half way through a season) they have won EVERY SINGLE RACE! Most of the time placing 1st and 2nd about so far ahead. That's about 35 races in a row, from absolutely nowhere! It baffles me. And before anyone gets hot under the collar I am NOT accusing her of cheating. I am accusing her of finding an edge and being faster and well done too! But it is still very frustrating to think you are doing everything right and still suddenly not on the pace any more.
So last season I used it as research. Before races I checked what she put her design points into and copied that and added points, and also copied the race strategy. I figured if I could match her car and even out-design her it I wouldn't be so far behind, right? Wrong. Still so far behind, with a better designed car. I watched her vigourously in races and she did nothing notibly different to anyone elses strategys. Again I was baffled! Her drivers weren't any better, actually they were worse. She was even 1 and 2 in practise and ALWAYS top 5 in quali. It's like she figured out the golden rule of iGP midway through one season! I asked her privatly what was her secret and she said she didn't know. I said you don't have to tell me your winning ways but you have found something good right? And she swear she hasn't changed anything! She could be lying of course. Haha! Its just disheartening even when I copied everything she does to test it she was still winning every race by so much!
But I digress. Does anyone have an further tips that I have not said here that could help? Of course you don't have to tell me your secrets but if you could help another manager out who wants to get better by pointing him in the right direction that would be great and a big help.
If not could anyone answer a few questions..?
1. Does experienced trait in drivers count for much? I hear it makes drivers better defenders? (I ask because my drivers were all better in everything but this trait)
2. Changing your suppliers to suit the track is good. But does it still matter when you get to 100? What I mean is when my big four get to 100 do I still need to bother changing suppliers to suit tracks? If they are on 100 and I have suppliers suited to tracks does it give an added effect above the 100?
3. Is there a sweet spot to use tech boost on a track? During breaking, accelrating out of corners, mid corner?
4. Do sponsors who give less money ask for less position in races? How do sponsors work? If you win every race will they want you to win every race after?
5. Which is better, driver preferable setup or ideal setup? I tried one driver with preferable and the other with ideal for a season and could not make a conclusion.
6. Does staff morale have any effect on design or research, or anything for that matter? (Staff moral does not have tooltip when you hover over it like drivers)
Sorry that this is a lot but I really want to get better. I havent won a single race in four seasons and before I was champion and winning lots.
