Hi guys,

Just to check whether there is a possibility that mediums can be faster than softs apart from being more durable?

Cars development are almost the same, assumed.

Or because of the track is more suited for mediums than softs?

This is due to the recent race, we have the mediums won and outrun the softs by 16secs in the Turkish GP.

Just curious about this possibility.

Thank you.

Mediums are sometimes faster than softs in some of the selected tracks like Turkish iGP, Azerbaijan iGP, Russia iGP, and many more. This is depends on how you did the push level management. It's easy to win the race with 10 secs in Turkish iGP because , the track has very effective of clean air especially on Turn 7 and Turn 8 once you get position advantage.

meds do well in high temperatures, abu dabi & bahrain for instance.
Meds can certainly win there and even outqualify softs

Well, the temperature is not high for the race but then probably the free air in the track that gave the advantage to it.

Thanks for the clarification.

Tire wear is really high in turkey, so when you stay too long on soft you can lose a lot of time.
On the first laps when both tires are above 50% the Medium just can have a similiar pace when it is really hot, but that happens rarely. When the soft is between 40 and 50% and the Medium is above 50 they are close to equal, when a compund is under 40 it is losing massively
